Quickstart

1. Start Playing

Just open the game and you're ready! Two tiles appear on the 4×4 grid.

2. Move Tiles

Use your arrow keys (or swipe on mobile) to move all tiles in one direction:

  • ↑ — Move all tiles up
  • ↓ — Move all tiles down
  • ← — Move all tiles left
  • → — Move all tiles right

3. Merge Matching Tiles

When two tiles with the same number collide, they merge into one:

  • 2 + 2 = 4
  • 4 + 4 = 8
  • 8 + 8 = 16
  • ...and so on!

4. Reach 2048

Keep merging tiles to create larger numbers. The goal is to create a 2048 tile.

After every move, a new tile (usually 2, sometimes 4) appears on the board.

5. Game Over

The game ends when:

  • You create the 2048 tile (you win!)
  • The board fills up with no possible moves (game over)

Quick Tips

  • Keep your highest tile in a corner — this is the #1 strategy
  • Don't use the opposite direction of your corner
  • Plan ahead — think about where new tiles will appear
